South Asian Fiscal Policy World Bank Seminar By the Senior Country Economist Ralph van Doorn
A special seminar on ‘South Asian Fiscal Policy’ was organised by the Department of Business Economics together with the World Bank – Sri Lanka. The seminar was held on the 16th of May 2016, at the University premises. The guest speaker of the seminar was Mr Ralph van Doorn, who is the Senior Country Economist of the World Bank for Sri Lanka and the Maldives. His work at the World Bank focuses on analysing macroeconomic developments and the drivers of growth, and providing technical assistance to the government, with a specific focus on fiscal policy and public debt management.
This seminar was mainly targeted at the undergraduates of the Department of Business Economics, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Students from all three batches took part in this and received exposure to the applications of Economics in the real world. The seminar was followed by a question-and-answer session.
