‘Piyawara’ Community Development Project

‘Piyawara’ was a project carried out by the undergraduates of the Department of Business Administration with the objective of developing the IT lab of WP/Mathu/Lihiniyawa Junior School in Kaluthara District. This was conducted under the BEC 3324: Project Management course offered by the Department of Business Economics. The project team donated 30 computers with the required standards and specifications. The operating system and other required software were installed by the members of the team themselves. In order to complete computer installation, the team had to do wiring as well. To locate the computers, tables and chairs were also donated. Interior design was a major concern since the learning environment should be a pleasant one. Therefore, the team took action to colour-wash walls and to hang curtains on windows.

Situation prior to the project
