Successful Completion of the Study Tour to Thailand– MBA / M.Sc. in Management Programme – 2022 Batch
A study tour was organized for the students of the MBA / MSc in Management 2022 batch program by the MBA Unit. It was a visit to Thailand from 3rd to 7th March 2025 with the participation of 20 students and 04 professors representing the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. It was a challenging task to organize a tour of this nature during the economic crisis and it was the second foreign study tour after the COVID–19 pandemic.
The main aim of the study tour was to enable the students to get foreign exposure and to relate theory to practice during the different visits to organizations such as universities, factories, theme parks, and resorts. Sharing their views, students highlighted that this tour is one of the most exciting and enjoyable life experiences.
While being in Thailand we visited National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) with the intention of developing partnerships between the two universities. Discussions were held to understand the possibilities of conducting collaborative research, engaging students in debate programs, summer camp activities as well as participating in international academic conferences. These discussions were led by NIDA university representatives, namely Assistant Professor Dr. Pattrawut Charoenroop, Assistant to the President for International Affairs, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sarawut Chansuwan, Director of the NIDA Smart Compact City Center. We had a chance to visit the Smart City Development Research Center with Mr. Pornchai Pruksasatnon, consulting team of NIDA Smart Compact City Center. This is the biggest and the most long-standing Company and it is a Thai beverage company that manufactures green tea drinks, herbal drinks, fruit drinks, and energy drinks in Thailand. Without confining only to study related matters students had a chance to visit famous temples in Thailand, Dream World Bangkok and enjoy the most outstanding view of bangkok by the river – Dinner cruise.
