The Master of Business Administration (MBA), the Master of Public Management (MPM) and the Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Management are two year full-time postgraduate degree programs of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce offered through the Faculty of Graduate Studies of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

The postgraduate programs of the Faculty are designed to provide the participants with a comprehensive postgraduate level academic qualification which blends the theories in management with real life experiences with a view of enhancing their personal and professional performance levels that prepares them for challenges in the current complex and fast changing corporate environment.

The programs are meant for private and public sector managers who are looking for a holistic management curriculum of national and international repute with right doses of skill development and attitudinal transformation focus. The programs begin with foundation level courses, maturing into more integrative courses on both generalized and specialized areas of study to be followed by a Project / Research / Thesis.

First year courses are common for all students and after completing the first year, students can choose one of the following programs on their preference.

  • MBA (Business Economics)
  • MBA (Accounting)
  • MBA (Finance)

To offer a particular program except the M.Sc. in a given year, there should be at least 10 students who wish to follow the program.

Credit Courses

The Degrees of MBA / MPM and M.Sc. are two-year full-time programs. The first year of these programs is common, consisting of 10 compulsory credit courses with 30 credits. One credit course comprises of 45 lecture hours with 3 credits. The lectures will be held on Saturdays and Sundays.

The courses of the programs in the second year will be arranged by the co-coordinators of the respective programs from the list of courses given under each program (Annexure II). The courses offered in a given term of a year will depend on the preference of the students and the resources available.
