OBT Programme of MBA 2024 Batch & Workshop for MBA Lecture Panel

The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura successfully conducted the Outbound Training Programme (OBT) for the MBA/M.Sc. in Management Intake 2024 on May 24th and 25th, 2025, at Habarana Village by Cinnamon, Dambulla.

Bringing together over 54students, the event provided an immersive learning experience designed to foster independent learning, leadership development, and teamwork through outdoor-based activities. By stepping away from traditional classroom settings, students engaged in various interactive challenges, reinforcing essential managerial skills.

The programme commenced with an insightful session led by Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, and Prof. Upuli Perera, Chairperson of the Board of Studies in Management Studies. This session introduced students to the objectives and expectations of the newly introduced MBA Programme, while also creating a platform for participants to share their experiences. Prof. Kumuduni Sriyalatha, Coordinator of the MBA/M.Sc. Programme, and Ms. WRM Shehani Shanika, Assistant Coordinator, also contributed to this comprehensive discussion on new elective courses, clarifying the differences between project work, research, and thesis options.

Students then took part in a diverse range of experiential learning activities during the OBT programme. In addition to that, there was an evening gathering with some entertaining indoor activities. Those entertaining events provided students with an opportunity to unwind, socialize, and expand their professional networks in a more informal setting.

MBA Lecture Panel Residential Workshop

Parallel to the OBT Programme, a two-day residential workshop for the MBA lecture panel took place to review the current programme and identify areas for future enhancement. This session, led by Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, focused on strategic discussions surrounding MBA programme administration and optimizing academic delivery.

The two programmes were graced by the presence of Prof. Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, Prof. Upuli Perera, Chairperson, Board of Studies in Management Studies, Prof. Kumuduni Sriyalatha, Coordinator, MBA/M.Sc. Programme, Ms. WRM Shehani Shanika, Assistant Coordinator, MBA/M.Sc. Programme along with the presence of eminent members of the MBA lecture panel.

Through this transformative initiative, students actively participated in activities designed to enhance leadership, teamwork, creativity, and social skills, empowering them to excel in diverse managerial scenarios.
