The 22nd FMSC Research Sessions was held on 22nd February 2023 at the New Boardroom of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce with the aim of providing a platform for the academics, specifically the young academics, to share their research experience with the faculty and thereby promoting a strong research culture in the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. Prof. P.D. Nimal, the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Manoor Sattar, an Assistant Professor at the East West University of Bangladesh, on “Board Gender Diversity and Firm Risk in UK Private Firms”. Dr. Lakshi Karunarathne of the Department of Estate Management and Valuation shared her experience on her PhD journey as the keynote speaker. Dr. S.D.L. Kongahawatte started the proceedings with the welcome address followed by the speech of the chief guest. Next was the intriguing keynote speech by Dr. Sattar, followed by the special speech by Dr. Karunarathne. The main segment of the event –the presentation of the extended abstracts – started following Dr. Karunaratne’s speech. This segment was enriched by research experience on timely topics by Dr. Janaka Fernando, Dr. Ananda Rathnayake, Ms. Udeshika Chandrarathne, Prof. R.G. Ariyawansa, Dr. Chameera Udawattha, Dr. Neelangie S. Nanayakkara, Ms. Mithushana Ravindran , Mr. Ashan Kottagoda  and Ms. I.G.S.M. Illubathanne. The event was officially ended by Dr. L.D.C.S. Subhashini with her vote of thanks. The event was a great success as the participants had the opportunity to share the research experience of fellow academics across a wide spectrum. The next research session for the year 2023 is scheduled to be held in the second semester of 2023.
