The 22nd International Conference on Business Management (ICBM) 2026, organised by the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, was successfully held from 16 to 20 February 2026 under the theme “Inclusive and Responsible Management for a Circular Economy and Digital Future.”

Conducted as a major component of the Faculty’s Research Week, ICBM 2026 served as a multidisciplinary platform for advancing research excellence, strengthening academic collaboration, and promoting dialogue among academics, researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and students. The conference programme included several key segments: Pre-Conference Workshops, Undergraduate Research Day, the Main Conference, PhD Colloquium, HDR Pitching Competition, the Business Forum and Case Study Proceedings Launch, and the PIM Annual Research Conference (PIMARC) conducted in collaboration with the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM).

The conference attracted 214 research submissions, of which 123 papers were accepted for presentation, while 12 doctoral studies were presented at the PhD Colloquium, reflecting the strong scholarly engagement generated by the event.

A highlight of the programme was the Business Forum held at Hilton Colombo, which brought together leading representatives from academia, industry, and government to discuss strategic directions for advancing Sri Lanka’s transition towards a circular economy. The forum also featured the launch of the ICBM Case Study Proceedings, a significant scholarly output supporting the development of locally grounded teaching and research resources in management.

The HDR Pitching Competition further enhanced the international visibility of the conference, with Sri Lanka’s national representative achieving First Runner-Up at the global level, demonstrating the strength of emerging doctoral research associated with the conference platform.

ICBM 2026 was organised under the leadership and guidance of Professor Dushan Jayawickrama, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce. The conference was co-chaired by Dr. Sepali Bamunusinghe and Dr. Isuru Manawadu, and its successful implementation was made possible through the dedicated contributions of the ICBM 2026 Organising Committee members, the academic staff, and the administrative staff of the Faculty, whose collective commitment ensured the effective coordination and delivery of this flagship Research Week initiative.

Overall, ICBM 2026 significantly strengthened the Faculty’s research profile and reaffirmed its role as a leading academic platform for promoting responsible management scholarship aligned with sustainability and digital transformation priorities.
